Details

Aged in bottle sur lie for two years, this wine offers bright and vibrant notes of green apple, jasmine and tropical fruit notes. On the palate citrus, honey and caramel, with a hint of fresh cream balances the zesty acidity.

Details

A blend of fruit from Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Monterey, Marin and Santa Barbara, this is mostly from the 2013 vintage, with seven percent reserve wine. More pinot noir than chardonnay, it shows hints of strawberry fruit along with some butterscotch sweetness. Gentle and brisk, it’s a pleasant sparkler for aperitifs.
A light touch of sweetness combines with ripe apple and pear flavors to make this full-bodied wine from Schramsberg taste rich and mouth filling. Layers of fruit and light spices spread across the palate and linger on the finish.
The non-vintage Mirabelle Brut white is sourced from Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Marin County and is made from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. The blend of young and older wines gives it a creamy richness, with lots of ripe peach and honeyed brioche, backed up by a medium-bodied, crisp, fresh, pure, dry sparkling wine that offers well-defined, small bubbles. This is a beauty to drink over the next few years.
Delicately rich, with a hint of maturity, offering plush notes of roasted nut, Asian pear, cinnamon brioche and spice. Drink now. 6,800 cases made. -TF
A virtual fruit salad with bubbles, this wine gushes cherry, apple and banana aromas. It has equally ripe flavors and a broad, almost soft texture punctuated by lively effervescence.

In 1965, Jack and Jamie Davies established Schramsberg Vineyards. One of the pioneers of the area, they set set out to make world-class sparkling wine on property originally owned by Jacob Schram. This 220 acre estate is located in Napa Valley’s Diamond Mountain District and its caves, which were dug in the 1880’s, extend over 30,000 square feet. The Schramsbergs produce limited quantities of handcrafted sparkling wines from grapes grown in their 43 acre estate vineyard and with fruit harvested from superior parcels located in cool climate, including Napa- Carneros, Sonoma-Carneros, Mendocino County and the Sonoma and Marin coastal areas. The winemakers draw from 120 vineyard blocks covering 371 acres to create 220 base wines each year. Many of Schramsberg’s viticultural and winemaking practices are carried out by hand grapes are handharvested, the bottles are stacked and riddled in underground caves by hand. The J. Schram, Schramsberg’s top offering, is even hand-labeled. They are unique among California sparkling wine houses in that they barrel ferment 25% of their juice to produce rich, flavorful and complex wines. A world-class winery and recognized leader in the California wine industry, Schramsberg produces America’s finest sparkling wines which have been served proudly at state functions at the White House and abroad for decades. Jack and Jamie’s son Hugh now manage the winery.
